Cindy Li, Counsellor at The Interval, Singapore

Cindy Li

Counsellor

Cindy is a counsellor with a background in developmental psychology, education and student support. Her journey into counselling began with a growing interest in understanding not just how children learn or behave, but what they might be experiencing beneath the surface — particularly when academic, emotional and social challenges overlap.

Over the years, Cindy has worked closely with children and adolescents across mainstream, international and specialised school settings. Her experience includes individual counselling, student wellbeing support and working alongside teachers and families to better understand the needs of young people. She is particularly comfortable working with secondary-school adolescents, bringing an appreciation of the academic pressures, changing friendships, emerging identities and emotional challenges that often characterise these years.

Cindy also brings substantial experience supporting neurodiverse young people, including those with autism, ADHD, executive-functioning difficulties and sensory-regulation needs. This has shaped her understanding that young people can experience and respond to the same environment in very different ways, and that meaningful support begins with recognising those differences rather than expecting everyone to fit the same mould.

Before moving into education and counselling, Cindy trained in electrical and telecommunications engineering. Her analytical background, combined with postgraduate training in developmental psychology and counselling, brings both structure and curiosity to her work. She understands that difficulties with learning, behaviour, relationships or emotional regulation rarely exist in isolation, and that listening to the young person's perspective is as important as understanding the concerns of the adults around them.

At The Interval, Cindy works particularly with adolescents navigating school-related pressures, emotional wellbeing, relationships, neurodiversity and periods of change. She provides counselling in both English and Mandarin, creating space for young people to express themselves in the language in which they feel most comfortable.
